Candlestick & Volume Foundations Workshop

A full-day, in-person course for traders who can name candlestick patterns but want to understand when volume supports or undermines the signal before placing a trade.

Who this is for

Retail and part-time traders with at least six months of chart experience. You should already know what a doji, hammer, and engulfing bar look like. This workshop does not teach platform navigation or broker setup — it focuses on reading what the candles and volume bars are telling you together.

What you will cover

  • Single-candle patterns and the volume signatures that strengthen or weaken them
  • Two- and three-bar structures: inside bars, harami, and morning/evening stars with volume confirmation
  • Reading volume at support and resistance — climactic selling vs. genuine absorption
  • Building a pre-trade checklist that requires both panels before entry
  • Live walkthrough of five historical setups on UK-listed equities and major FX pairs

What is included

  • Printed workbook with 40 annotated chart examples (yours to keep)
  • Morning tea, lunch, and afternoon refreshments
  • Access to one follow-up practice group session within three months

What is not included

  • Trading signals, stock picks, or managed account services
  • Software licences or broker referrals
  • Recordings of the session

How the day runs

Arrive at 09:15 for registration. Teaching runs 09:30–16:30 with breaks. The morning covers single-candle patterns; the afternoon moves to multi-bar structures and live chart review. Each attendee marks up their workbook during exercises. The instructor is James Whitfield, who has taught chart reading in Suffolk since 2019.
